South Cambridgeshire District Council is renewing its efforts to tackle period poverty by offering free, eco-friendly menstrual products to hundreds of local residents. Following its initial success in 2024, the initiative has been re-launched to coincide with "Environmenstrual Week" from October 20-26.

The council has set aside nearly £10,000 to fund the project, giving residents the option to choose from three sustainable period product packs: washable pads, period underwear, or reusable menstrual cups.

The products will be distributed by Hey Girls, a UK social enterprise dedicated to ending period poverty. Residents can apply online to receive a pack, but supplies are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis until all items have been claimed.
