Eco-Conscious Town Bikes

Totnes, England Debuts a Fleet of Catbikes to Drive Greener Local Travel

Totnes is set to welcome a new wave of sustainable mobility this June with the arrival of 'Catbikes,' a fleet of hireable electric bikes introduced by South Hams District Council.

Designed for both residents and visitors, Catbikes offer a convenient and low-impact way to navigate the town and explore its scenic surroundings. Starting this June, Totnes will welcome the hireable electric bikes—branded Catbikes (short for Cycles Around Town) as part of South Hams District Council’s initiative to champion low-carbon transportation and make cycling more accessible to all.

Available around the clock via a dedicated mobile app, Catbikes will be stationed at key locations throughout the town, offering both residents and visitors a convenient and eco-friendly way to explore Totnes and its scenic surroundings. By encouraging cycling over car use, the council aims to ease traffic congestion, support healthier lifestyles, and contribute to a cleaner environment—all while making sustainable travel more accessible and appealing.
