Neuron Mobility is Relaunching its E-Bike and E-Scooter Program
Colin Smith — April 4, 2025Neuron Mobility has launched a new e-bike and e-scooter program in collaboration with the University of Waterloo, aiming to provide sustainable transportation options for students, employees, and the broader community. The program, which began in April 2024, is part of a region-wide initiative to promote environmentally friendly mobility solutions. Users can rent e-bikes and e-scooters through the Neuron app, which allows them to locate nearby vehicles, manage trips, and find designated parking stations. To ensure pedestrian safety, the program restricts riding zones to specific areas such as Ring Road and select trails on the campus perimeter. Additionally, pick-up and drop-off hubs are strategically placed around key locations, including UW Place and Columbia Lake Village, with plans to expand station locations throughout the summer.
The program emphasizes accessibility and convenience, offering flexible pricing options for users. Riders can choose between pay-as-you-go rates or tiered subscription plans, including weekly, three-day, and monthly passes. Neuron Mobility also provides safety features such as spoken instructions and alert systems for pedestrians, enhancing the overall user experience. The initiative aligns with the University of Waterloo's sustainability goals and supports the transition to a balanced transportation system that reduces reliance on cars. By integrating advanced e-vehicle technology and thoughtful infrastructure planning, Neuron Mobility's program contributes to the region's efforts to create a greener and more connected community.
