Bio-Based Reusable Cups
Hesburger Adopts Sulapac Cups in 69 Restaurants
Debra John — January 24, 2026Sulapac cups have been adopted by Finland’s largest burger restaurant chain, Hesburger, as part of a sustainability-driven initiative to reduce the environmental impact of single-use tableware across 69 restaurant locations. The move reflects a broader commitment to lowering waste and supporting more circular consumption models within large-scale food service operations.
The reusable cups are made from 'Sulapac Solid,' a 100% bio-based material designed to offer the durability and functionality of conventional plastic without contributing to microplastic pollution. Compared to traditional plastic, the material has a significantly lower carbon footprint, helping reduce emissions associated with everyday food and beverage packaging.
Designed for longevity, the cups can withstand up to 300 industrial washing cycles before reaching end-of-life. At that stage, they can be recycled into new food-grade material, enabling closed-loop reuse. This system supports resource efficiency while aligning environmental responsibility with operational practicality.
