Informa Fashion Implements Sustainability Vetting for Trade Shows
Georgia Wray Norsten — April 25, 2025Informa Fashion, the organizer of some of the world’s leading trade events such as MAGIC, COTERIE, and PROJECT, has expanded its sustainability initiatives through a rigorous brand vetting program. Initially launched in 2021, this system evaluates fashion brands against the U.N.'s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), offering a credible framework for assessing environmental and ethical performance. In just a few years, participation has soared -- now covering more than 900 brands, a 480% increase since inception.
Informa has also released its 'Sustainability Now' guide, a practical toolkit to help brands transition toward eco-conscious practices in sourcing, design, and logistics. Additionally, leftover products from trade shows are now donated to charities, including those serving disaster-stricken communities such as recent wildfire survivors. These multi-pronged efforts reflect a growing trend within the fashion industry to embrace accountability, transparency, and sustainability. Informa is helping shape a marketplace where being eco-aware is no longer optional but expected.
Informa’s enhanced vetting raises the bar for ethical fashion representation, strengthening trust among buyers and partners. It reinforces the events' reputational value and could attract premium sustainable brands looking for verified, mission-aligned exposure.
