TH International Limited, the company behind Tim Hortons’ expanding presence in China, is introducing a new sustainability milestone: an eco-friendly straw created in collaboration with Tencent’s CarbonXmade program. The innovative design was unveiled at the 2025 Sustainable Social Value Innovation Summit (S Summit) in Beijing, spotlighting both companies’ commitment to low-carbon, next-generation materials. The new straws begin rolling out today in Tim Hortons locations across Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, marking the first phase of a wider environmental initiative. By integrating greener materials into everyday items, Tims China hopes to nudge customers toward more planet-friendly habits, helping prove that small switches can drive change on a large scale. The straw uses Carbon Capture Utilization (CCU) technology to capture CO₂ emissions and turn them into PPC polyols. The polyols are then processed into PPC-TPU, pelletized, and formed into straws.
