Tencent's CarbonX Program has selected fifty finalists from a large international pool of applicants to compete for financial grants and additional developmental support.

The CarbonX Program is structured to assist emerging technologies in the climate sector, with a specific focus on carbon removal, industrial decarbonization, carbon utilization, and energy storage. Through this initiative, Tencent strives to help bridge a common funding and support gap — sometimes referred to as the "Valley of Death" — that often prevents early-stage innovations from reaching commercial implementation. Selected participants will have the opportunity to test their technologies in "real-world environments, including in climate vulnerable regions such as Kenya, the Maldives, and Serbia."

In early 2026, a global panel of multi-disciplinary experts will review the work and potential of the CarbonX Program finalists to select the winning teams.
