Novel Tapeless Zipper Designs

NOTAPE Reimagines Conventional Zipper Structure

The brand NOTAPE has introduced a tapeless and seamless zipper innovation that fundamentally reengineers the conventional zipper structure by eliminating the fabric tape and stitching — "the two weakest links in the chain," according to NOTAPE — entirely. In doing so, the design addresses environmental problems across the full lifecycle from production to recycling.

Conventional zipper structures require spinning, weaving, dyeing, fixing, and coating processes, each consuming significant energy and water while generating wastewater, emissions, and solid waste, but NOTAPE removes the tape at the source so the teeth attach directly into the garment fabric itself. The brand estimates that resource consumption can be reduced up to 95% as a result of its innovation, while the carbon footprint can go down between approximately 19.4% and 26.6%.
