Brand-Backed Ocean Plastic Projects
Deciem Works with 4ocean to Fund Ocean Plastic Removal Efforts
Kanesa D — October 24, 2025Deciem, the company behind the popular skincare brand The Ordinary, has partnered with 4ocean, an environmental group known for funding ocean cleanup projects by selling bracelets made from recycled plastic.
Together, they’ve set an ambitious goal: to remove 1 million kilograms (about 2.2 million pounds) of plastic and trash that’s threatening oceans and waterways by 2028. Over the next three years, this collaboration will help clear plastic waste from beaches, rivers, and oceans worldwide.
Their efforts are expected to be equivalent to removing 40 million plastic bottles from the ocean, making a significant impact on marine life and helping protect our planet’s water ecosystems for future generations.
"From reducing their plastic footprint and using recycled materials to taking responsibility for products at the end of their life, Deciem is showing what it looks like when a brand steps up and takes action," said Alex Schulze, co-founder and CEO at 4ocean.
