Fairtrade Month-Celebrating Chocolate Campaigns

Hu Launched a Public Art Installation and a Report

The chocolate manufacturer Hu is commemorating Fairtrade Month with a public art installation in the form of a mural, alongside the publication of a document detailing its social and economic initiatives.

Hu's report highlights specific projects, such as efforts to increase gender equity within a coconut sugar farming cooperative in Indonesia and programs in Sierra Leone focused on providing agricultural training and preventing child labor. The company emphasizes its commitment to sourcing several key ingredients, including cocoa and coconut sugar, from suppliers that hold Fairtrade certification, as well.

The mural, on the other hand, was commissioned by Fairtrade America and is located in Virginia. It serves to "illustrate the importance of sustainable sourcing, ethical supply chains, and connecting people to the farmers behind their food."
