GEIDCO Joined Forces with The UNFCCC to Accelerate Clean Energy
Colin Smith — June 12, 2025GEIDCO, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, has initiated a partnership with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to enhance clean energy development in developing countries. The collaboration is designed to strengthen capacity-building efforts by establishing an online Energy Cluster under the framework of the Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) Network. This platform is intended to facilitate the exchange of best practices, technical training resources, and strategic engagement opportunities among stakeholders, thereby addressing persistent gaps in clean energy planning and implementation.
The initiative leverages GEIDCO’s technical expertise in promoting global energy interconnection and pairs it with the UNFCCC’s established capacity-building framework to support targeted energy transition projects. The Energy Cluster is structured around key pillars of knowledge sharing, technical training, and strategic engagement, focusing on reducing duplication in capacity-building efforts and enhancing South-South cooperation. Through the implementation of these coordinated activities, the partnership aims to improve institutional and professional capabilities, ultimately contributing to the advancement of sustainable energy systems and climate resilience in regions with urgent capacity-building needs.
