CleanChoice Energy is Launching Two Solar Energy Projects in NY
Colin Smith — June 11, 2025CleanChoice Energy has expanded its operations in New York through the acquisition of two solar projects located in Washington and Rensselaer Counties. The projects are anticipated to produce a combined 54.2 MW of clean electricity, thereby significantly enhancing the company’s renewable generation portfolio. These initiatives were selected under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) latest round of large-scale renewable energy contract awards and align with broader state objectives to increase the proportion of clean energy in the regional grid. Construction is slated to commence in fall 2025, with interconnection to the grid planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The expansion reflects CleanChoice Energy’s ongoing commitment to developing renewable energy assets that support both grid resilience and regional sustainability goals. By owning and operating solar generation facilities, the company aims to create a direct connection between local communities and the source of their clean power. This development is part of a strategic effort to bolster CleanChoice Energy’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic region, contributing to state-wide clean energy targets while fostering local economic and environmental benefits.
