Renewable Energy Pipeline Acquisitions

TotalEnergies Acquires 435 MW Solar and Battery Portfolio
Georgia Wray Norsten — June 3, 2025TotalEnergies announced the acquisition of a significant UK renewable energy pipeline, comprising 350 MW of solar projects and 85 MW of battery storage. The package of eight solar farms and two battery installations -- purchased from developer Low Carbon -- could be operational by 2028 and is projected to generate 350 GWh/year, enough to power ~100,000 British homes.
This move significantly expands TotalEnergies’ renewable portfolio in the UK, adding to its existing wind and gas assets. Company leaders highlighted the deal as a strategic step toward achieving carbon neutrality, reinforcing TotalEnergies’ transition from a traditional oil and gas major into a broad clean energy provider in line with the UK's climate goals.
By investing in utility-scale solar and storage, TotalEnergies strengthens its foothold in the growing renewable energy market and hedges against the long-term decline of fossil fuels. This acquisition not only helps meet its corporate climate pledges but also positions the company for new revenue streams as Europe’s energy mix shifts green.
