Vanishing Biodegradable Vinyl

Nassimi Manufactures the Hyphyn: a Disappearing Performance Vinyl

References: hyphyn

Nassimi introduces Hyphyn as the first performance vinyl that disappears, developed as a coated textile embedded with a patented enzyme system. Designed to match the durability, cleanability, and color retention of traditional vinyl, Hyphyn addresses one of the material’s greatest challenges by biodegrading in landfill conditions. Tests show the product can break down by more than 90 percent within two years, offering a significant reduction in long-term environmental impact.

The enzyme technology remains inactive during use, ensuring the vinyl performs as expected until disposal. Once placed in anaerobic landfill conditions, the material transforms into non-toxic biomass and gases without leaving harmful residues or microplastics. Soil tests following degradation confirmed 100 percent seed germination, reinforcing its ecological safety. Hyphyn demonstrates how performance textiles can evolve to meet sustainability goals without compromising functionality or appearance.
