Oklo and Idaho National Lab Partnered on Its AI Reactor Design Tools

Oklo partnered with Idaho National Laboratory through the Strategic Partnership Project to integrate AI-enabled engineering workflows into advanced nuclear reactor design, with a focus on the Pluto reactor, a plutonium-bearing fuel system under the DOE’s Reactor Pilot Program. The AI advanced reactor design project integrates the Prometheus AI platform with Oklo’s infrastructure to streamline simulation, modeling and technical documentation.
AI agents execute and monitor design pipelines while generating compliant documentation, with human operators remaining in the loop for oversight and decision-making. The project also contributes to the Genesis Mission, a national initiative focused on AI-accelerated scientific discovery.
As nuclear developers explore faster engineering workflows, Oklo and INL show how AI-assisted reactor design can help reduce development timelines while maintaining the human oversight required for safety-critical systems.
