Sustainable Wool Dyeing Methods

Woolmark and COLOURizd™ Launched 'QuantumCOLOUR™ Technology'
Debra John — July 1, 2025Woolmark and COLOURizd™ have launched 'QuantumCOLOUR™ Technology,' a sustainable breakthrough in wool dyeing. Unlike traditional methods that "use 60–120 liters of water per kilogram of yarn and rely on harmful chemicals like acids, bleach, and salts, QuantumCOLOUR™ uses only 0.5 liters of water per kilogram and eliminates pre-treatment, bleaching, and wastewater discharge entirely."
This innovative process uses "a bluesign®-certified pigment and binder system, ensuring no toxic waste or chemical runoff." The pigment is injected directly into the yarn fiber bundle, delivering durable, high-quality color while significantly reducing the environmental footprint.
As sustainability targets grow stricter across the textile industry, QuantumCOLOUR™ offers a practical, eco-friendly solution without compromising performance. By dramatically lowering water use and eliminating hazardous chemicals, this technology supports a more responsible future for wool dyeing and aligns with global efforts to produce cleaner, greener textiles.
