EV-Focused Synthetic Fluids

TotalEnergies Launched Quartz EV Drive R 3.1 to Improve Sustainability

TotalEnergies Marketing Canada Inc. announced the launch of Quartz EV-Drive R 3.1, a synthetic fluid engineered specifically for electric drivetrain reducers, marking TotalEnergies as the first major supplier in Canada to offer a fluid tailored to the demands of modern electric vehicles. Developed through advanced research and development, Quartz EV-Drive R 3.1 is formulated to meet stringent requirements for high-speed, high-efficiency EV gearboxes, delivering compatibility with copper and insulating materials, enhanced heat transfer and cooling capabilities, and dielectric properties to prevent short-circuits and static charge buildup. The introduction at the K 2025 trade fair follows previous innovations such as Quartz 0W-8 ultra-low viscosity engine oil and the Fluidsyn synthetic base fluid platform, with Quartz 0W-12 slated for release later in the year.

This product launch aligns with TotalEnergies’ global ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and supports the company’s broader electric mobility strategy, which includes fast-charging infrastructure and energy storage solutions. By improving the performance and service life of EV drivetrains, Quartz EV-Drive R 3.1 contributes to cleaner mobility and reduced environmental impact. The fluid became available nationwide in mid-June 2025, accompanied by comprehensive technical and marketing support to reinforce TotalEnergies’ leadership in the Canadian lubricants market.
