Turbine Tiny Homes
Dutch Designers Create a Tiny Home Inside of a Recycled Wind Turbine
Kanesa D — September 5, 2025Dutch company Blade-Made is turning decommissioned wind turbines into tiny, trailer-sized homes called Nestle—a nod to the turbine component, the “nacelle.” Each 35-square-meter pod features two rooms with bright, stylish interiors finished in warm North-European wood, creating a cozy, nest-like atmosphere.
Blade-Made specializes in upcycling turbine parts that are otherwise impossible to recycle, repurposing them into benches, highway barriers, playgrounds, and now homes. While the project is partly a statement on sustainable design, the company has already received orders for 10 units, all certified under Dutch building codes.
“Everything in the built environment—everything that you see around you—has an end of life,” Blade-Made’s Jos de Krieger told CNN Style via videocall. “And we need solutions besides waste or landfill, incineration or something without value.”
