In celebration of Earth Month, Salt & Straw is once again redefining what it means to be delicious and sustainable. The artisanal ice cream brand is showcasing a unique collection of upcycled flavors—creations that transform perfectly edible ingredients like overripe fruit, day-old bread, and surplus whey into imaginative scoops that spotlight the critical issue of food waste.

Now in its third year, Salt & Straw’s Upcycled Series has already saved nearly 50,000 pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste. Beyond the flavors themselves, the company is expanding its sustainability efforts in-store. All Salt & Straw locations are now using certified compostable 5-ounce scoop cups, a move expected to divert more than 28,000 pounds of paper waste annually, without altering portion sizes.

On the dedicated day, customers visiting any scoop shop will receive a complimentary waffle cone with the purchase of a single scoop.
