Lead-Free Solid-State Drives
Apacer Has Introduced the Pioneering PV250-M280 SSD Model
Kalin Ned — September 24, 2025Apacer has introduced what it is positioning as a pioneering product in the storage industry — a solid-state drive (SSD) manufactured without the use of lead. The PV250-M280 model is presented as a strategic response to impending regulatory shifts, specifically the anticipated end of certain exemptions within the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
To achieve the lead-free composition of its product, Apacer incorporated alternative resistor materials and used specialized soldering techniques during the assembly process. These methods are intended to maintain the component's structural integrity and performance reliability. Apacer asserts that this approach not only future-proofs the product against stricter regulations but also contributes to lower power consumption and material expenses.
In addition to the lead-free solid-state drive, the company has concurrently revealed a complementary power management innovation named CoreEnergy, which is engineered to intelligently modulate the drive's energy usage according to operational demands.
