The CLEO Institute's 'Our Present, Icarus' Future' uses the story of Icarus as a metaphor for humanity's risky disregard for scientific warnings about environmental limits. As part of the public awareness initiative, the organization frames current policy decisions as having direct consequences for future generations.
'Our Present, Icarus' Future' includes a multi-faceted approach featuring an art installation, a public petition directed at international leaders, and a creative contest designed to solicit positive visions of a sustainable future. The overarching goal is to mobilize broad public support and generate political pressure ahead of COP30, the major international climate conference.
