Returnable Campus Food Containers
UNC Greensboro Debuts a Container Reuse Initiative with USEFULL
Kanesa D — November 5, 2025UNC Greensboro is unveiling a plastic-free takeout program for students, delivering stainless steel containers for campus dining that help further the University's commitment to become a zero-waste campus by 2050. Through this new initiative, students can check out USEFULL containers using their Campus ID cards or mobile credentials, allowing them to borrow the stainless steel containers and return them once they are finished their meal. Containers must be returned within a specific timeframe to avoid late fees.
"Transitioning away from plastic toward plastic-free reusables is a major step forward for UNCG," said Aimee Langford, Chartwells resident district manager at UNCG Dining Services. "With USEFULL's enhanced Transact and CBORD integrations, operational ease will only continue to improve, making this partnership especially valuable for our Transact-enabled campus."
