Carbon Capture Compressor Equipment

Hanwha Power Systems is Outfitting a Power Generation Facility

References: hanwha
Hanwha Power Systems will provide specialized compressor equipment for a carbon capture system integrated into a new power generation facility in Europe. The specific technology being supplied is the Mechanical Vapor Recompression compressors. The Mechanical Vapor Recompression compressors are engineered to enhance the energy efficiency of the capture process. Their primary function is to reclaim and pressurize low-grade steam, transforming it into a reusable heat source for the critical stage where carbon dioxide is separated from a chemical solvent. This process of thermal energy recovery is presented as a method to lower the total operational energy demands and associated running costs of the carbon capture system, which are typically significant hurdles for such facilities. The project is framed as a landmark application for attaching carbon capture to a modern, high-efficiency natural gas power plant, with the intent of creating a facility with substantially lower emissions.
