Agricultural Waste Bioplastics

Green Science Alliance (GSA) is developing agricultural waste bioplastics through a collaboration with Ukrainian company TETRAVION K. The feasibility project explores converting locally available organic waste, including straw and corn husks, into plant-based biodegradable resins and plastics. GSA is producing prototypes that incorporate Ukrainian biomass waste as a material ingredient, with the goal of progressing toward a pilot technology demonstration. The project could provide an alternative use for agricultural residues while reducing reliance on petroleum-derived plastic materials.

For businesses, locally sourced biomass could create new value streams from agricultural waste while supporting the development of domestic material production in Ukraine. The partnership also gives GSA an opportunity to validate and potentially commercialize its plant-based material technology in a new market. Successful demonstrations could encourage broader applications across packaging, coatings, adhesives and other plastic-dependent industries.
