Bioengineered Material Garments

The Balenciaga AMSilk Garments are Part of its Spring 2026 Range

These new Balenciaga AMSilk garments have been debuted by the brand as part of its spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection to put the bioengineered material in the spotlight. The garments include a black shirtdress and a white collared shirt made with AMSilk material that gives them the look and feel of conventional silk, but with an eco-friendly edge. The material itself is microplastic-free, 100% biodegradable and vegan-friendly, while also being Vegan Society-approved and skin safety-tested by Hohenstein Textile Testing Institute.

AMSilk CEO Ulright Scherbel spoke on the Balenciaga garments saying, "Seeing our material reach consumers through a global luxury brand is a defining moment for AMSilk. This application shows that bioengineered materials are no longer experimental. They are ready for demanding industrial environments and real market adoption.”
