Kappa Reveals Its Designer-Led 'Beyond the Game' Campaign

While upcycling football shirts has gained traction in recent years—largely driven by independent designers and DIY communities—Kappa’s initiative brings this movement into a more mainstream, brand-led context. The campaign reframes jerseys not as fixed, collectible items, but as materials that can be redesigned and given new purpose.
To bring this concept to life, Kappa has partnered with emerging designers Tega Akinola and Kiqué Sanchez, each offering their own approach to transformation.
“Each piece in this collaboration is unique and tells a story,” Akinola explains. “The designs of the original jerseys were respected and guided their transformation. From the colours to the graphics, each element has been studied individually in the transformation process in order to preserve the specific identity of each shirt.”
