Sustainable Cacao Initiatives

Puratos Has Committed to Using Cacao-Trace Certified Cocoa

Canada-based Puratos has announced its commitment to using Cacao-Trace certified cocoa for a variety of its compound chocolate items manufacturers in its facility on Richmond, British Columbia. The embrace of the sustainable cocoa will see Puratos partnering directly with cocoa farmers as well as post-harvest locations to ensure that farmers receive the best premium possible. The program will also see a Chocolate Bonus of $0.12 per pound paid directly to farming communities for each pound of Cacao-Trade product sold.

CEO Pierre Tossut spoke on the Cacao-Trace certified cocoa program saying, "In the chocolate sector, we set industry benchmarks for responsibility and innovation. Our Cacao-Trace program ensures higher-quality chocolate while making a meaningful impact at the source by giving farmers better incomes through the Chocolate Bonus and Quality Premium.”
