COMPOST by Rhea Gupte transforms frozen kitchen scraps into photographic art through a series that documents everyday food waste preserved in ice cubes as layered visual compositions. The series began with Gupte photographing accumulations of frozen food remnants from her own kitchen, capturing textures, colours and organic forms within rigid blocks of ice that record domestic consumption patterns over time. The resulting images depict collages of food matter that are arranged into still-life compositions and presented as photographic prints that highlight contrast, repetition and material detail.

COMPOST was shown in London at BLEUR Gallery as part of an exhibition that paired the works with a zero-waste supper club prepared by chef Sohini Banerjee, extending the series’ themes into shared culinary experience.
