Mill and Compost Crew Introduce a Food Waste Recycling Service
Kanesa D — October 24, 2025Mill Industries Inc., a California-based company focused on preventing food waste, has teamed up with Compost Crew Inc., an organics recycling company based in Rockville, Maryland. Together, they’re working to expand food scrap recycling programs in Maryland, northern Virginia, and the Washington, D.C., metro area (DMV).
Their new service combines Mill’s innovative food waste technology with Compost Crew’s food scrap collection and local composting facilities. The goal is to keep food waste out of landfills by turning it into nutrient-rich compost that can be returned to local neighborhoods and gardens.
People living in the DMV area can sign up for this service, which starts at $39 a month. When you join, you get a Compost Crew bucket to store your scraps and a Mill food recycler, which dries and grinds food waste into clean, dry bits. Then, Compost Crew picks up the compostable material either once a month or every two months to process it into compost.
