Coffee Pod Recycling Projects

Used Coffee Pods are Now Accepted at Devon County Recycling Centres

Devon County Council has expanded its recycling program to include used coffee pods at Household Waste Recycling Centres across the region, including locations in Tavistock and Okehampton. The rollout aims to make pod recycling more accessible while diverting waste from landfill.

The initiative is delivered in partnership with Podback, a dedicated coffee pod recycling service, and SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK Ltd, which operates the council’s recycling facilities. Once collected, the pods are processed to recover materials and generate renewable energy, contributing to a more circular approach to waste management.

Podback's previous partnerships include Starbucks, Asda, Morrison's and more. The organization works closely with retailers and manufacturers to expand accessible recycling options, helping to standardize the collection and processing of coffee pods.
