Officially-Recognized Sustainable Centres

The Eclipse Leisure Centre, delivered by Willmott Dixon, is a community‑focused leisure facility developed with an emphasis on sustainable construction practices and low‑carbon design. The project integrates energy‑efficient systems, high‑performance building envelope measures, and responsibly sourced materials to reduce operational emissions and lifecycle environmental impact, while providing a program of amenities such as pools, fitness suites, multi‑use sports halls, and flexible community spaces to support broad public use.

Project delivery emphasised stakeholder engagement and skills development, with local supply‑chain participation and workforce upskilling integrated into construction activities to maximise regional economic benefits. The centre’s handover and public opening activities highlighted collaborative governance between the contractor, client and community stakeholders, and showcased site‑level innovation in areas such as waste reduction, on‑site carbon management and operational efficiency measures intended to lower whole‑life costs for the facility.
