Repurposed Plastic Structural Blocks
Eco-C CUBE Transforms Waste Through "New-Cycling"
Laura McQuarrie — December 3, 2025Eco-C CUBE turns tough-to-recycle plastic waste into high-strength, low-carbon structural blocks, giving new purpose to land and marine plastic waste.
Construction relies heavily on concrete, a carbon-intensive material, while materials like fishing nets, buoys, agricultural films, and multilayer packaging are abundant yet conventionally non-recyclable through conventional means. Eco-C CUBE tackles this double burden—rising CO₂ emissions from building materials and growing plastic pollution with no scalable path back into the value chain—with a low-temperature “New-Cycling” process that directly molds mixed plastic waste into blocks with superior tensile and compressive strength to concrete. Each kilogram avoids about 2.99 kg CO₂, enabling durable, verifiable materials that turn problem plastics into climate-positive infrastructure.
Eco‑C CUBE received the 2025 Edison Awards’ Silver Prize in the Advanced Engineering Infrastructure Solutions category, and is a 2026 CES Innovation Awards Honoree in the category for Sustainability & Energy Transition.
