The EKA PAKK Pavilion by Myceen Experiments with Fungal Structures

References: pakk.artun.ee

The Eka Pakk Pavilion by Myceen explores how mycelium, the root network of fungi, can be developed into an architectural material. Designed as a temporary structure, it combines grown mycelium panels with a lightweight frame to form an environment that is both sustainable and expressive. The design highlights surface textures and organic irregularities, drawing attention to the living qualities embedded in its formation process.

Visitors experience the pavilion as more than a static installation. Its open contours promote airflow while the fungal panels naturally regulate humidity and sound. Over time, the appearance shifts subtly, reinforcing the idea that the structure is part of an ongoing natural cycle. By positioning mycelium as a primary resource, the pavilion challenges conventional building practices and offers a vision of architecture that can adapt, biodegrade, and return to the earth without waste
