Montrose Rolls Out Tech to Remove 'Forever Chemicals' from Water
Georgia Wray Norsten — May 6, 2025Montrose Environmental Group has deployed innovative treatment systems to strip toxic PFAS chemicals – nicknamed 'forever chemicals' -- from landfill runoff. Announced at WasteExpo 2025 in Las Vegas, Montrose’s new 'FOAMX' filtration technology is already in use at two landfills in Michigan and New Jersey, where it significantly cuts PFAS levels in leachate before the water is released. A local landfill director praised the solution for helping meet permit requirements and protect local waterways. Montrose, an environmental services firm, showcased this as part of its mission to address emerging contaminants that traditional methods struggle with. The company also hosted expert panels at the conference to discuss how waste facilities can tackle PFAS pollution amid evolving regulations.
Montrose’s rollout comes as regulators and communities ramp up pressure to deal with PFAS contamination. Successfully treating these chemicals gives Montrose a competitive edge in a fast-growing market for remediation solutions.
