American Water Stresses Resilience a During Drinking Water Week

The company plans to invest $40–$42 billion over the next decade to replace aging pipes and upgrade treatment facilities, ensuring safe and reliable service.
In tandem with these upgrades, American Water is urging customers to help protect local water systems by using water wisely and keeping harmful waste out of drains. Company President John Griffith emphasized that such community efforts, especially during Drinking Water Week, complement the utility’s continuous improvements and technology enhancements in delivering clean, affordable water.
By publicly committing massive capital to infrastructure, American Water is positioning itself as a proactive leader in sustainability and reliability. These investments should reduce maintenance costs and disruptions long-term, while meeting regulators’ and investors’ expectations for climate resilience.
