WOO and Ad Net Zero to Enhance Global Media Sustainability Framework
Georgia Wray Norsten — August 14, 2025The Global Media Sustainability Framework (GMSF) is set for refinement as the World Out of Home Organization (WOO) partners with Ad Net Zero to adapt the methodology for Out-of-Home (OOH) media. Developed initially by Ad Net Zero, the GMSF provides a standardized approach for calculating greenhouse gas emissions across media types. WOO’s expertise will ensure that the framework accurately reflects OOH formats, from Classic and Transient to Digital.
The collaboration aims to improve transparency and consistency in emissions reporting while highlighting OOH’s environmental advantages. In the UK, 90% of OOH’s energy already comes from renewable sources, and innovations like LED lighting, solar power, PVC-free banners, and living wall installations are further reducing its carbon footprint. This initiative supports WOO’s goal to make sustainability a driver of industry growth.
By aligning the GMSF with OOH-specific metrics, WOO and Ad Net Zero strengthen the sector’s sustainability credentials, appealing to environmentally conscious advertisers.
