Greene King recently hosted a drive to reuse, refurbish, or recycle kitchen equipment, resulting in beneficial impacts for the company. The company recently teamed up with contractors and suppliers to drive sustainable business practices and investments across the board. The equipment donated is cleaned and tested, and repairs will be conducted as necessary to ensure functionality.

One Greene King trial resulted in 7000kg of redundant pub kitchen equipment repurposed, and £418,000 in savings. Remaining items are recycled or disposed of through various waste channels.

“[...] We have been changing the ways we manage kitchen equipment when it is removed from a pub to see if it can be installed in another kitchen, put up for auction or recycled. With improved processes such as asset tagging, reporting and certified disposal routes, it is improving our waste diversion rates, improving traceability and supporting our net zero journey. [...]” said Greene King’s property services director, Paul Garland.
