Hanwha Qcells has unveiled EcoRecycle—a solar panel recycling initiative designed to address the growing environmental impact of end-of-life photovoltaic modules. Through this new program, Qcells aims to recycle up to 250 megawatts (MW) of solar panels annually in the United States.

Currently, less than 10% of solar panels are recycled, with the vast majority ending up in landfills—resulting in the loss of valuable materials. EcoRecycle seeks to reverse that trend by recovering and repurposing these critical components, keeping them in circulation and minimizing the demand for virgin materials.

By diverting panels from the waste stream and reintegrating recovered materials into new manufacturing cycles, Qcells aims to significantly reduce the carbon emissions associated with raw material extraction and production.
