J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines has announced that its widely distributed 2022 J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon will now carry a state certification for sustainable practices on its label. This designation was granted by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance to verify that the wine is produced from grapes cultivated under specific environmental and social guidelines, as well as processed in a winery that meets similar standards.

J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines reports that a significant portion of its total production now qualifies for this certification. The announcement highlights various operational initiatives, such as a substantial reduction in water consumption per unit of wine produced and the generation of a large percentage of its energy needs through on-site solar power. The company also boasts a new packaging option — a reusable stainless-steel keg.
