Eco-Friendly Cosmetic Materials

Kolmar Korea and Eastman Partner to Create Ethical Color Cosmetics

Eastman has tapped Kolmar Korea to develop more sustainable cosmetic ingredients, responding to growing industry pressure to eliminate microplastics from modern beauty products. The collaboration focuses on using tree-based cellulose and biodegradable polymers as alternatives to traditional synthetic materials.

These eco-friendly ingredients are designed for color cosmetics, helping improve how products apply, adhere to the skin, and last throughout the day. As an example of its recent success, Eastman recently introduced Esmeri™ CC1N10, a biodegradable, non-microplastic ingredient suitable for a wide range of products, including lipsticks, liquid foundations, and pressed powders.

“We plan to maximize synergy by collaborating with Eastman, which has strengths in the eco-friendly materials field. We will support strengthening the competitiveness of our global customers with next-generation makeup materials that are both sustainable and have excellent functionality," said a Kolmar company spokesperson.
