Lahore Introduces a New Plastic Waste Recycling Program
Kanesa D — July 1, 2025Lahore has launched a new eco-friendly recycling program focused on tackling plastic pollution while rewarding citizens for responsible waste disposal. Led by ISP Environmental Solutions and Intratech Group and supported by the World Bank, the initiative introduces Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) across the city. As a result, residents can now deposit single-use plastic items such as bottles, cups, and plates into these machines and earn Green Credit worth up to Rs1,000 per kilogram.
The RVMs are equipped with sensors to detect and reject non-plastic items, ensuring proper waste sorting. Participants can track their Green Credit, view transaction history, and connect with waste dealers through a dedicated mobile app. A key feature of the program is its doorstep collection service—users can schedule pickups through the app, and company representatives will collect the plastic directly from their homes.
