PepsiCo India, in collaboration with environmental NGO The Social Lab (TSL), announced the expansion of its flagship plastic waste management initiative, 'Tidy Trails,' into new cities. Launched as a pilot in Agra in 2023, Tidy Trails is a community-driven program that organizes the collection, segregation, and recycling of post-consumer plastic waste. The program has already collected over 38,000 kg of plastic in Agra, transforming much of it into useful products, including benches and chairs for public spaces. Now, timed with World Environment Day, PepsiCo is scaling Tidy Trails to Delhi and Pune, aiming to foster cleaner cities and a culture of recycling.

The initiative involves local administrators, market vendors, and citizens in segregating waste at source and supports 'circular' outcomes by converting non-recyclable plastics into alternative fuels or materials. Special collection vans and awareness campaigns will encourage participation. PepsiCo India’s sustainability head noted that this aligns with the company’s 'Partnerships for Progress' ethos to achieve zero waste to landfill in communities.
