Removable Upholstery Systems

The Lucy Lounge Chair Was Made to Keep Furniture Out of the Landfill

Upholstery is built to wear—fabric thins, cushions compress, and over time, even a well-loved piece starts to show its age, and even though a simple reupholster could give a furniture design a whole new life, most end up at the curb instead—so Boss Design created the Lucy lounge chair. This sculptural lounge chair, made for renewal and not replacement, features a removable upholstery system so that it can be reupholstered without tools and without leaving the building. Lucy was inspired by boating equipment, which employs tension systems to support flexibility, adaptability and security, and this lounger incorporates a discreet bungee cord system beneath the seat. What's more, Lucy is constructed with Bio-Pur foam (for up to 70% less carbon than traditional foam,) a fully recyclable internal steel frame, and FSC-certified plywood.
