Recycled Public Transportation Seats

Lazzerini's Re-Compact Seat Uses 100% Recycled Plastic

Lazzerini introduces the Re-Compact transport seat, an innovative offering that uses recycled plastic to provide a comfortable resting place for commuters. The Re-Compact seat uses Nextchem's NX Replast technology to help with puriying and regenerating post-consumer plastic for various applications. Through a process of mechanical upcycling, the material is converted into a durable technical polymer that forms the structure of the seat while remaining recyclable for repeated future use.

The seats are also coated with PURETI photocatalytic treatment, a technology designed to reduce airborne pollutants. To illustrate the recycling journey, the installation includes plexiglass cubes filled with NX Replast granules.

“Milano Design Week is where design meets people and generates new awareness. Bringing our Re-Compact seat here means showing how circularity can become form, function, and a design culture. It is not just about technological innovation, but about rethinking materials to rethink the future of transport and public spaces," said Innocenzo Carbone, Chief Executive of Lazzerini.
