Plastic Waste Benches
Pickering Town Council Unveiled New Recycled Plastic Benches Across Town
Kanesa D — August 28, 2025Pickering Town Council has officially installed recycled plastic benches at various locations across the town, replacing the traditional timber seating that previously stood. The benches, made from 2,000 recycled plastic bottles and advertised as "quick drying" and "easy to maintain," are an ethical choice for public spaces that contributes to the fight against plastic waste.
The benches also come in a 'Sloper' style that is significantly cheaper than the previous benches and provides a more comfortable seating position. The council is accepting community feedback on the comfortability of these seats in addition to general consumer opinions to see if more should be installed.
"We think they look very smart and are much more robust than you would expect," a representative from the council stated.
