The OUTLINE series by SAND PRODUCT is founded by interior designer Rikiya Toyoshima work the collaborative efforts of product designer Shomu Taki. The two push creative boundaries by transforming the core molds and using sand casting. It is now given new life in the form of captivating furniture and decor, creating raw and carbonized sand to uncover new beauty.
Sand casting is a common method when creating hollow metal components when creating cars and planes. Once it cools down and solidifies, vibrations are used to section the core molds from the resulting item. It is often discarded after a single use so SAND PRODUCT tackles this waste issue by transforming them from tools of production to objects themselves.
