reMarkable Launched Its Paper Pure Tablet With a 45% Lower Carbon Footprint
Adam Harrie — May 11, 2026reMarkable launched Paper Pure, a third-generation paper tablet made from 38% recycled materials, the highest proportion across any reMarkable device, including 100% recycled lithium and cobalt in the battery and 90% recycled magnesium in the central frame. The sustainable consumer electronics design also has a carbon footprint of 28.7 kg CO₂e, which the company said is 45% lower than that of the reMarkable 2 it replaces.
The device was engineered with screws and snap-fit construction rather than glue, enabling easier professional repairs and a longer usable lifespan. As Paper Pure joins the company’s third-generation lineup, reMarkable 2 will be discontinued.
As consumer electronics brands face growing pressure to reduce lifecycle emissions and electronic waste, reMarkable demonstrates how designing products around recycled materials and repairability from the outset can deliver measurable sustainability improvements without sacrificing product functionality.
