Forestry Byproduct-Made Soil Mixes

Wakefield BioChar has introduced its Biochar Pro Garden Mix — a soil amendment made from plant-based forestry byproducts — at over 3,700 Walmart stores nationwide.

Wakefield BioChar maintains that its Biochar Pro Garden Mix is designed to improve water retention, balance soil pH, increase microbial activity, and lock in nutrients. Unlike compost or mulch, which break down over time, biochar remains active in the soil for years. By mixing biochar to make up roughly ten percent of the soil volume, gardeners can reduce watering frequency because the porous structure holds moisture and releases it slowly to roots, which is especially valuable in regions facing drought restrictions or for anyone who travels and cannot water daily.

Wakefield BioChar also notes the carbon-negative production process of its product.
