Saving Nature Obtains 865 Acres in Colombia's Western Andes
Debra John — April 11, 2025Saving Nature, a U.S.-based nonprofit, has "secured 865 acres in Colombia’s Western Andes to protect one of the planet’s most biodiverse regions; this includes over 600 acres of untouched cloud forest and 247 acres set for restoration with 16,000 native trees."
These efforts will help safeguard habitats for rare species like the spectacled bear and endangered orchids, while also supporting North American migratory birds such as the Canada and Cerulean Warblers. By restoring forest corridors and preserving intact ecosystems, this project boosts biodiversity, strengthens climate resilience, and improves long-term survival for wildlife.
It also creates a healthier, more connected environment that benefits both local communities and global conservation goals. Saving Nature’s work represents a hopeful step forward in protecting vital habitats and reversing the damage caused by deforestation and climate change.
