Divirod Completes a GNSS-R Terrain Monitoring Project in Fukuoka
Debra John — February 10, 2026Divirod has completed a GNSS-R terrain monitoring project in Fukuoka, focused on environmentally responsible landslide risk assessment and slope stability monitoring. Conducted in collaboration with Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (OKI), the project applied continuous, high-resolution sensing across mountainous areas vulnerable to extreme rainfall and seismic activity. By enabling early detection of ground deformation, the system supports disaster prevention while reducing the need for invasive surveying methods and repeated field interventions.
Divirod’s technology classified observed terrain changes into slope failure events, slow-moving landslides, and temporary moisture-related variations. Hundreds of changes were detected and correlated with rainfall and seismic data, enabling precise risk mapping and identification of active zones.
The project contributes to climate resilience efforts by supporting early-warning systems, informed land management, and sustainable infrastructure planning that helps protect ecosystems, communities, and resources in hazard-prone regions through data-driven monitoring aligned with long-term environmental stewardship goals.
